I use a Muvi K-Series action camera, it has a detachable rear screen and can be used without the waterproof housing. The camera has good video capability is able to take still images and time lapse. The battery capacity is very good giving me ample power to make fairly long video and time lapse sequences. The water proof housing is excellent giving a 100 depth. While the available accessories by Muvi is a little limited the connection to various accessories is universal to other well known and more expensive makes of action camera so there is a very good range of after market or already owned accessories.
The WIFI connects to a free app which provides a view of what the camera is seeing and has access to some of the camera controls including taking still images and start/stop video. I do find that there is a bit of a delay in the image update, but find that it is excellent for checking that the camera is pointing in the correct direction.
