This is the ninth video as we head South from Decize, but first a walk into Decize itself across the bridges over the River Loire. The town has character with numerous restaurants and shops. We take the opportunity to attain provisions before heading back across the bridges.
The following morning we are up early and while the sun is shining there is a light early morning mist. I take the opportunity to get some time lapse video of the rising sun through the trees from our hammer head birth in the Decize marina.
The Decize marina has fantastic facilities including a fair restaurant which we frequented on a number of occasions.
We filled the water tanks then headed out through the semi-automatic lock back into the canal. The lock keeper on the first lock was not expecting us so we just tied up on the side of the canal and phoned the lock keeper who was attending another lock. It didn’t take long for him to arrive. On the canal time is not pressing and we just relax and enjoy the countryside, wild life, the sunshine, croissant and coffee.
The hire boat in front of us has been cruising for the past five months through the canals and river of France. They have a couple of weeks before returning the boat back to the hire company and heading home.
We are again very lucky with the weather although chilly the sunshine is enjoyable but clouded over in the afternoon. The lock keeper said that the temperature is dropping to minus two over night and the water in our hand wash bucket freezes.
The mooring for the night is an amazing location, we are the sole vessel on the pontoon with an amazing vista to the East.
Enjoy………
